Herb Biscuits
Cooking and Recipes

Into a biscuit trough or bowl dump 1 cup and 2 tablespoons of flour, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 pinch of salt, and 2 tablespoons of shortening. Cut in herbs up to 1/2 fresh or 1/4 cup of dry anise, caraway, celery, chives, fennel, marigold, marjoram, mint, oregano, parsley, rose, rosemary, savory, thyme, watercress, onion, or garlic. Try experimenting with different herbs. Then, mix 1/2 cup of buttermilk. If you do not have buttermilk accessible, use 1/2 cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vinegar. Pat out. Do not overwork the dough or it will get tough. Bake for ten minutes in a 250 C or 500 F degree oven.
